Reading for Pleasure
Reading for pleasure is a fundamental part of the 色中色视频鈥檚 Juniors curriculum. This is encouraged throughout the school and supported by the busy and well-stocked Colet Library.
Our full-time librarian and part-time library assistant have an extensive knowledge of children鈥檚 literature and encourage pupils to read often, widely and well. It is the expectation for every Coletine that they spend at least 20 minutes reading every day.
Open from 8.15am to 4.30pm every day during term, the Colet Library offers a very wide range of fiction and non-fiction for borrowing and in-library reading as well as a space for comfortable and quiet reading.
Pupils come to the Library for one timetabled Library lesson a week. Many of the pupils may also be found reading in the library during break and lunchtimes.
Multiple copies of major new titles are available upon publication as well as a good selection of new authors and updated copies of classics. Tailored reading suggestions are available for each year group, alongside more personalised suggestions from library staff, teaching staff and other pupils.
World Book Week is celebrated with a range of activities, competitions and collaborative reading. The Library also hosts a poetry open mic every term and supports events such as National Storytelling Week, the Juniper Shadowing program and the Carnegie 色中色视频.
