Sam Fisher makes small painting of the seemingly immeasurable landscape that he has lived in for 50 years. These paintings record not only natures stubborn resistance to the takeover of land by international conglomerates, but the ritual of daily walks through the landscape. The paintings come from the remains of memory, and what we are left with is the uniqueness of the recalled moments made in the act of painting.

Sam Fisher has lived and worked in both London and rural Nottinghamshire since leaving the Royal College of Art as a student in 1973. He taught at the Royal College of Art from 1974 to 1994, and at Goldsmiths College from 1974, until he retired as Head of the B.A. Fine Art Programme in 2009.
