The Under 16 A and B teams both secured outstanding wins at home. The A team participated in a thrilling and closely contested match on Bigside, emerging as victors with a 10-7 score, with a penalty kick proving decisive. The B team’s game was even tighter, with a late try securing a 19-12 victory and sending the SPS players into jubilation. Congratulations to both teams for these excellent wins.
The Under 14s also played at home. The Under 14 A match was another exciting game, with the result decided in the final play. Unfortunately, the A team was left dejected after conceding a try in the final moments, resulting in a 17-19 loss. The B and F teams also lost, but the C, D, and E teams all celebrated impressive victories.
The senior teams faced a challenging day away at Dulwich College. The 1st XV started strongly, but Dulwich’s effective kicking game kept É«ÖÐÉ«ÊÓƵ’s pinned back, resulting in a 21-5 deficit early in the match after conceding three tries. Despite a strong response from the 1st XV, the second half saw a change in the game’s atmosphere, which led to mistakes and a loss of momentum. Ultimately, Dulwich secured a 59-5 win. Despite the disappointment, the 1st XV demonstrated resilience and will likely learn valuable lessons from the experience. The 2nd XV and 3rd XV also gave strong performances but suffered defeats of 34-14 and 36-7, respectively.
Congratulations to the Under 15 A team, who achieved two fantastic victories in three days. First, they triumphed 42-0 against Tiffin School in the Continental Vase Competition, followed by a 36-0 victory over Dulwich. Unfortunately, the Under 15 B team lost 32-7, and the Under 15 C team narrowly lost 32-29 despite a determined effort.
Next week, SPS will face London Oratory in the final block of the season. Best of luck to all players and staff in their preparations.
